Product description

The Verdello is the summer lemon. 🍋 Bright green peel, pale flesh, a sharper aroma than that of the yellow lemon: it's the one used from June to September, when other citrus fruits are unavailable.

It is obtained by forcing the bloom, a technique Sicilian farmers have used for generations: the plant is left without water for a few weeks in summer and then irrigated, causing the tree to re-bloom out of season. This is how a lemon harvested in the middle of summer is born.

Product storage

Verdello lemons are harvested in the warmer months and last less time than winter lemons. Store them in a cool, airy place, in a single layer, away from the sun: they will keep for eight to ten days.

In the refrigerator, in the fruit drawer, they can last up to three weeks. Do not seal them in a plastic bag, as humidity will cause mold to grow within a few days.

If you have many left, grate the zest and freeze it in a container, and squeeze the juice into ice cube trays. The zest and juice will keep for six months and are ready to use. Wash the fruit before consuming it.
